“I mentioned a few weeks ago that I’d have exciting news soon…..well… I can now officially confirm that we have obtained planning permission for, and started construction of, a new concert venue in Wigmore Street (opening 2023). The venue will be called ‘Bechstein Hall’, it is just a few doors along from Wigmore Hall, and I am the Artistic Director. I hope that my many friendships in the piano world will enable me to bring a new first-class piano series to London along with much lieder and chamber music. I am a very happy bunny!”
Bechstein Hall was the original name of Wigmore Hall
This is good news, indeed – just what’s needed (assuming the acoustics will be satisfactory, and not so expensive to hire as to put it beyond the reach of many artists and their agents).
