The Managing director, François Bou, President François Decoster and the board of Orchestre National de Lille have appointed Mr. Joshua Weilerstein to the position of Musical Director as of September 2024. He will succeed Alexandre Bloch, who has been the musical director of the ONL since 2016 and remains in post until summer 2024. After 6 years as Artistic Director of the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, he has recently taken up his position as Chief Conductor of the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra in Denmark. “ Joshua Weilerstein conducts the greatest orchestras around the world. Biography Born in Rochester (United States) in 1987, Joshua Weilerstein has a flourishing career as a guest conductor throughout the world.He is known for his expressive and dynamic presence on the podium, intense and knife-edge performances, his boundless enthusiasm, and his deep sense of music. Joshua Weilerstein believes passionately in combining traditional and contemporary repertoire in his programmes, whenever possible including a piece by a living composer.
