The Academy of Ancient Music (AAM) is delighted to announce the appointment of John McMunn as its new Chief Executive.
He assumes the role from 1st September, taking over from outgoing Chief Executive Alexander Van Ingen. John is currently the General Manager of Gabrieli.
John McMunn comments: “Since its founding in 1973, the Academy of Ancient Music has been at the forefront of the period-instrument movement, pioneering new modes of performance practice and practical scholarship, and more recently driving the development of digital engagement. As a long-time admirer of this work I am delighted to join the orchestra’s sterling musicians and its committed staff and board to help shape the next chapter of the organisation’s long and storied history.”
AAM Chairman Philip Jones comments: “We are delighted to welcome John back to the AAM family. John’s background as an experienced manager, performer and musicologist is a perfect fit for AAM and we greatly look forward to working with him as we build on the successes of our outgoing Chief Executive, Alexander van Ingen and lead up to our 50th Anniversary year.”
AAM Music Director Richard Egarr adds: “It is with the greatest pleasure and excitement that we welcome John in his new appointment. He is an old friend and colleague of AAM, and I couldn’t be happier to have him with us.”
