The Chapel of St Augustine, Tonbridge School
Trumpeter Alison Balsom and organist Anna Lapwood join forces to present Images an innovative and immersive concert experience.
Alison and Anna open Tonbridge Music Club’s 60th anniversary season on Saturday 15 October. The 70-minute programme will offer an immersive lighting journey enabling the listener to have a more dramatic experience, with the lighting reflecting each piece as the works segue from one to the next. The nature of the trumpet and organ in the large space of The Chapel of St Augustine, coupled with the physical movement and visual focus will make the experience feel like ‘surround sound’.
The programme includes an eclectic mix of repertoire from Albinoni to a world premiere by rising star composer Kristina Arakelyan. There are arrangements by both artists including Alain’s Litanies (Balsom); Britten’s Sunday Morning which receives its premiere in this new arrangement (Lapwood), as well as Debussy’s Syrinx and JS Bach’s Chorale Erbarm dich (Balsom/Lapwood).
