Gone are Record Review, the five-hour-plus River of Music, and The Rake’s Progress conducted by Andrew Davis…
… no doubt these programmes can be rescheduled. I’ll content myself by catching up with listening to CDs.
It can surely be no disrespect to the memory of a unique figure, his death a milestone in the country’s monarchical history, to wonder why today’s Radio 4 programmes, including the giggly 9am slot ‘Saturday Live’, go ahead as scheduled, while the hard work behind Radio 3’s day-long Stravinsky celebration has been scrapped, replacing music programmes with…er….other programmes of music.
This decision is almost perverse. The Duke was no great music lover was he?
So why try to pontificate that he was, pray?
Another mystery, at the time of writing this, is why Radio 4 Extra is suspended and cloned with Radio 4 (both stations broadcasting the same schedule)?
