Anna Lapwood and guests perform in the first overnight Prom since 1983
From 11pm last night through to 7am this morning, the BBC Proms presented From Dark Till Dawn, the first overnight Prom since 1983. Hosted and co-curated by celebrated organist and TikTok sensation Anna Lapwood, the Prom featured an eclectic line-up of performances.
Among the boundary-crossing artists were the Norwegian ensemble Barokksolistene and their director Bjarte Eike, who created a tavern-like atmosphere with traditional British and Scandinavian songs in their Nordic Alehouse Session. Cellist Anastasia Kobekina returned to the Proms with a solo Bach set, while YouTube star Hayato Sumino made his Proms debut. In the final part of the evening, 12 Ensemble and Sleeping At Last made their Proms debuts and kora player Seckou Keita took to the stage. Anna Lapwood conducted her Pembroke College Chapel Choir, her last time conducting them as their Music Director, and performed on the organ.
This marked the first overnight Prom since 1983, when an all-night concert of Indian music was staged.
The programme was as follows:
11pm-2am
Anna Lapwood organ
Barokksolistene / Mamelukk, Bjarte Eike violin/director
Pembroke College Chapel Choir, Anna Lapwood conductor
2.30am-4.30am

Now in its third week, the BBC Proms 2025 season spans eight weeks and features 86 concerts, including 25 televised Proms. More than 200,000 tickets to Proms at the Royal Albert Hall and venues across the UK have been purchased so far. Over 6,000 people attended the recent BBC Proms in the North East, including over 4,500 experiencing a Prom for the first time. The season has had a record-breaking opening weekend online, with over half a million streams alongside records for accounts and hours. Proms currently available on BBC iPlayer include First Night of the Proms, Ravel’s Piano Concerto for the Left Hand, Vivaldi and Bach at the Proms, The Great American Songbook with Samara Joy, Bach and Mendelssohn at the Proms and Beethoven’s Fifth at the Proms.
From Dark Till Dawn was broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and will be available on Sounds for 30 days from the Last Night of the Proms.
