Some MPs are calling for a Parliamentary debate on the BBC’s classical music cuts, and a letter (following one from orchestra conductors and another from various BBC Young Musicians) has now been sent to Tim Davie, Simon Webb, Charlotte Moore and Lorna Clarke from numerous choral conductors including Jane Glover, John Eliot Gardiner, Roger Norrington, Harry Christophers, John Butt, David Hill, Laurence Cummings, Stephen Layton, Nigel Short, and Peter Phillips. The letter begins, “As representatives of the UK’s freelance professional choral ensembles, we stand united in our utter dismay at the BBC’s planned disbandment of the UK’s only full-time professional chamber choir, the BBC Singers, and a 20% reduction to England’s BBC orchestras.“

All MPs should be calling for this debate and for the cancellation of these profoundly inartistic proposals. Write to your MP – if you think they can understand what it is you are writing about.
I have written to my MP, and I urge everyone to do so.

Email addresses for the use of:
Director General Tim Davie (timdavieoffice@bbc.co.uk)
Chief Content Officer Charlotte Moore (charlotte.moore@bbc.co.uk)
Head of Music Lorna Clarke (lorna.clarke@bbc.co.uk).
I don’t have an address for Simon Webb.
Thanks for the addresses; although probably a waste of time writing to these barbarians given they have lost the plot and are in denial as to their huge mistakes.
