Starting with a call out in an advert in London’s Ham & High newspaper, Decca Records is thrilled to announce that numerous surviving choir members from Highgate School Choir – who share the unique memory of being conducted by composer Benjamin Britten 60 years ago – have responded to the recent search for participants. These former choir members will now be brought together again and have the opportunity to reconnect, reminisce, and hear the newly remastered version of what has since become a defining recording in the history of classical music.

John Rutter, who sang in the choir as a teenager, and surviving members of the 1963 recording team, will be present, and this event will mark a rare moment of reflection and celebration for those who were part of this groundbreaking project.

This unique reunion, taking place at the Dolby Atmos Theatre in Soho on September 19th, 2024, is part of Decca’s celebration of the newly restored and remastered ‘War Requiem’ and will offer an unparalleled auditory experience that brings the original stereo master tapes to life in vivid detail.

The reunion event will take place on Thursday, September 19th, 2024, at the Dolby Atmos Theatre in Soho, London, starting at 11 am.
