… a concert from the Berlin Philharmonie recorded on April 28, which the Digital Concert Hall had not broadcast live, presumably because the two Mozart works were also being included in the May 1 Europakonzert. So, I was pleased to catch Schumann’s Fourth Symphony (revised score, 1851) conducted by Kirill Petrenko, a virile and shapely account well-worth finding time to listen to, and it was interesting to hear the Mozart pieces in a very different acoustic to that of La Sagrada Familia.
However, not out of criticism but for the sake of good record, the Radio 3 presenter was mistaken to state that the Berlin programme was repeated in Barcelona, for the Schumann did not travel there; instead, other Mozart works were added, so too pieces by Silvestrov and Takemitsu, as below.
