This year the Birgit Nilsson Stiftelsen hosts a trilogy of events celebrating the Swedish soprano’s musical legacy. From a Festival dedicated to her childhood roots in South Sweden, to a Stipendium encouraging young singers at the start of their careers, and a Prize in recognition of artists and institutions who have created a new chapter in musical history, Birgit Nilsson’s legacy continues to support and inspire our musical future.“It is now seven years since Birgit Nilsson’s legacy was entrusted to our care here in Stockholm and each year we are delighted to see how her bequest continues to grow, establishing new roots and supporting both the talents of today and tomorrow. We remain ever grateful to Birgit for her extraordinary gift, which in these difficult times, plays an ever more important role as we invest in our musical future.”
