Due to health reasons, violinist Hilary Hahn will not be able to participate São Paulo Symphony Orchestra’s European tour this summer. Replacing her at the Edinburgh and Berlin festivals, the Osesp will perform with violinist Roman Simovic — in the first festival he will play the Ginastera’s Concerto and Waxman’s Carmen Fantasie, in the second, the Ginastera. At the SummerConcerts Festival in Amsterdam and the Rheingau Festival in Wiesbaden, the São Paulo Orchestra will joined by violinist Daniel Lozakovich, who will perform Saint-Saëns’ Concerto No. 3.

Roman Simovic’s brilliant virtuosity and seemingly-inborn musicality, fuelled by a limitless imagination, has taken him throughout all continents performing on many of world’s leading stages including the Carnegie Hall, Bolshoi Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Victoria Hall in Geneva, Rudolfinum Hall in Prague, Barbican Hall in London, to name a few. Simovic has been awarded prizes at Premio Rodolfo Lipizer, Sion-Valais, Yampolsky Violin Competition and the Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition, placing him among the foremost violinists of his generation. As soloist, Roman has appeared with the world leading orchestras, such as London Symphony, Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra, Camerata Bern, Camerata Salzburg, with conductors like Valery Gergiev, Antonio Pappano, Daniel Harding, Gianandrea Noseda, Kristjan Järvi, Sir Simon Rattle, and Pablo Heras Casado. A sought-after artist, Roman Simovic has been invited and continues to perform at various distinguished festivals such as the Verbier Festival, White Nights Festival St. Petersburg, Moscow Winter Festival in Russia, collaborating with such renowned artists as Leonidas Kavakos, Yuja Wang, Gautier Capuçon, Misha Maisky, Schlomo Mintz, Janine Jansen, Julian Rachlin, Evgeny Kissin, Antoine Tamestit, Nikolai Lugansky. Roman holds a visiting professor of violin position at the Royal Academy of Music in London and has an extensive experience as an educator. He has released comprehensive list of recordings, most notable are four albums directing LSO string orchestra for the LSO live label as well as a CD of complete Paganini caprices for violin solo. Roman is serving as a leader of the London Symphony Orchestra since 2010 and plays a 1709 Antonio Stradivari violin which was generously given to him on loan from Jonathan Moulds.
DANIEL LOZAKOVICH
Daniel Lozakovich has become one of today’s most sought-after violinists. In 2023-24, he performed his recital debut in Carnegie Hall and Grand Hall of the Concertgebouw, a tour with Oslo Philharmonic and Klaus Mäkelä which leads him also to Oslo Konserthuset, Paris Philharmonie and Vienna Konzerthaus. Recent highlights include engagements in Japan with hr-Sinfonieorchester under Andrés Orozco-Estrada and Asia with Valery Gergiev, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra under Andris Nelsons and Los Angeles Philharmonic conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen. A highly sought-after recitalist, he has made appearances in such historical theatres and halls as Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Tonhalle Zürich, Victoria Hall Geneva and The Mariinsky Theatre. Lozakovich is a regular at international music festivals, including the Verbier Festival, Gstaad Menuhin Festival, Festival de Pâques – Aix-en-Provence, Tanglewood Music Festival. As a chamber music performer, he has collaborated with such artists as Emanuel Ax, Martin Fröst, Renaud Capuçon, Mischa Maisky, Behzod Abduraimov and David Fray. He has already achieved considerable acclaim on record, having been signed by Deutsche Grammophon at just 15 years. His recording of Bach’s two violin concertos (Kammerorchester des Symphonieorchesters des Bayerischen Rundfunks, 2018) reached number one in the classical album charts in Germany. Lozakovich has been awarded many prizes including first prize at the 2016 Vladimir Spivakov International Violin Competition and the Young Artist of the Year 2017 award at the Festival of Nations. Daniel Lozakovich plays the “ex-Sancy” 1713 Stradivari generously loaned by LVMH/Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton.
