What an under-appreciated joy the Saint-Saëns is! It was written when he was only 22 or so. I’ve been listening this week to the 1981 Anders Eby recording with the stellar Swedish soprano Britt-Marie Aruhn. I also love the recording for Anne Sofie von Otter’s ‘Expectans Expectavi’ – I’m pretty sure it’s her first commercial recording (made when she was 26)…
Happy Christmas listening to you, Colin, and to all on this forum.
