Rudolfinum, Prague – 25 September 2025 – David Mareček, General Director of the Czech Philharmonic, unveiled a bust of Jiří Bělohlávek, chief conductor of the Orchestra from 1990-1992 and 2012-2017.

“During his tenure, Jiří Bělohlávek raised the Czech Philharmonic to an extraordinary artistic level.  As well as inspiring the Orchestra humanly, one of Bělohlávek’s many great contributions is the Orchestral Academy, a training ground for future players for orchestras across the Czech Republic including the Czech Philharmonic. Bělohlávek’s considerable contribution makes it natural that his bust should be placed between those of his famous predecessors – Václav Talich, Rafael Kubelík, Karel Ančerl, Václav Neumann, Karel Šejna and František Stupka.”
