As concerts and choir rehearsals were cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions, music group The Telling has been responding to the crisis in their usual inventive style by bringing live singing workshops and concerts into homes since March, known as The Telling in Retreat. As winter draws near, the ensemble is thrilled to launch a brand-new 6-week cycle of workshops from 13th November to 18th December at the usual time of 11am – 11.30am every Friday to teach participants how to sing a mix of beautiful medieval and traditional carols from around Europe, touching on repertoire featured on their Secret Life of Carols CD which reached the top 25 in the Classical charts and was cited by Classic FM’s David Mellor as his “absolute favourite” 2019 Christmas Album.
Hosted by The Telling’s singer Ariane Prüssner via video communication service Zoom, The Telling in Retreat launched at the start of lockdown and has garnered a loyal pool of participants who continue to attend the current workshop series 7 months later for a 30-minute escape from their abnormal lives. The Telling hopes their 6-week course will somewhat fill the carol hole in their lives and help people get into the festive spirit as we lead up to a Christmas like no other.

Anyone with an internet connection can join the workshops and there’s no need for a webcam. All participants will be muted so they can feel free to sing to their heart’s content.
