Detroit, (July 6, 2022) – The Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) today announced its 2023 William Davidson Neighborhood Concert Series, marking the twelfth year of the concert series. From January through June 2023, the series will bring world-class DSO performances to seven venues in seven Metro Detroit communities.
Fans can experience the orchestra, guest conductors, and guest soloists in Southfield, Monroe, Beverly Hills, West Bloomfield, Plymouth, Bloomfield Hills, and Grosse Pointe. Subscription packages are on sale now, with four-concert packages starting at $100. Neighborhood Series subscribers also receive complimentary admission to DSO Chamber Recitals, which take place in Detroit and surrounding communities.
DSO Music Director Jader Bignamini will make his series debut, conducting music by Paganini and Tchaikovsky, and guest artists will include conductors Michael Balke, James Blachley, Francesco Lecce-Chong, Jayce Ogren, Katharina Wincor, and Lidiya Yankovskaya; saxophonist Timothy McAllister; conductor and violinist Dmitry Sinkovsky; soprano Laquita Mitchell; DSO Principal Flutist Hannah Hammel; violinists Giuseppe Gibboni, Tai Murray, and Hai-Xin Wu (DSO Assistant Concertmaster); and pianist Shai Wosner. Featuring repertoire curated especially for intimate venues, for both full orchestra and chamber orchestra, the William Davidson Neighborhood Series creates musical impact by connecting with audiences in their communities. See below for a list of all programs.
A series of DSO Chamber Recitals – free to all Neighborhood Series subscribers – features DSO musicians in a variety of settings in Detroit and across the entire metro area. Details on these programs will be announced later. In addition, DSO musicians regularly perform at schools, hospitals, senior living facilities, places of worship, parks, and other community gathering spaces.
The William Davidson Neighborhood Concert Series is made possible by a generous grant from the William Davidson Foundation. WRCJ 90.9 FM also supports the Series.
Neighborhood Series subscriptions can be purchased online at dso.org/neighborhood or by calling the Box Office at 313.576.5111. The Box Office is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
