The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation reacts to the Corona pandemic and the resulting
precarious situation for many musicians, ensembles, institutions and students with an additional
financial injection of €2.4m. This decision was made by the Foundation’s board on 11th May 2020

The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation distributes further financial support in 2020
The additional financial support of €2.4m is being supplied not only for the support of innovative,
international projects within the contemporary music world, but also as a lifeline for music students
in Germany, Austria and Switzerland undergoing financial difficulties. Here, the Ernst von Siemens
Music Foundation will work in close cooperation with various music schools, who will distribute the
money on the basis of need. As such, no direct application to the Ernst von Siemens Music
Foundation can be made.
In terms of additional project support, the Foundation has arranged an extraordinary deadline for
short-term applications. From 25th May until 21st June 2020, applications can be made for either new
projects which show an especially creative approach given the current circumstances – in particular
the widely implemented social restrictions in various countries – or existing projects which have
fallen into financial difficulty due to the Corona pandemic. The applications must however relate to
projects beginning this year.
