![]() ![]() The story of the Metropolitan Opera has always been written by artists, audiences, and supporters who believed that great art matters. Today, we are proud to launch Make the Met Forever—the most ambitious fundraising campaign in the history of the Metropolitan Opera. Every generation needs guardians of remarkable art, culture, and music. The powerful shared experience of opera—with its singular fusion of music, drama, dance, and design—is one of our greatest cultural treasures. It is unforgettable when experienced, and impossible to replace. For more than 140 years, the Met has brought together artists and audiences through performances of the highest caliber while extending its reach far beyond the Opera House through education, broadcasts, and programs that make opera accessible to people around the world. With a goal of $1.5 billion including a dramatically expanded endowment, the Make the Met Forever campaign reflects a shared commitment to preserving and advancing this legacy. At its heart, this campaign is about ensuring that future generations can experience the same wonder, inspiration, and sense of connection that opera provides today. To that end, in a landmark collaboration, the Met is partnering with the City of New York and Mayor Zohran Mamdani to launch Opera for All, a new initiative offering tens of thousands of free tickets to underserved New Yorkers who have never previously attended the Met. As Mayor Mamdani says, “Opera is one of the greatest art forms we have. Every New Yorker should have the opportunity to experience live opera, regardless of income or background.” Opera for All will help to reinforce the invaluable role the Met plays in the cultural life of the city. We look forward to welcoming back you, our loyal audience, who so steadfastly supports the Met. We hope to see you often throughout the 2026–27 season, and we hope you will join our movement to Make the Met Forever for many generations to come. |
