Berlin, 25 March 2026 – A new groundbreaking partnership between harmonia mundi and Deutsche Grammophon will start this April. The renowned French historical label joins the Deutsche Grammophon physical store and the streaming platform STAGE+ with a curated selection of recordings.
Founded in 1958, harmonia mundi is one of the world’s leading classical music labels. True to the pioneering spirit of its founder, Bernard Coutaz, the Arles-based label has established itself as a leading authority on historically informed performance, embracing a broad repertoire ranging from early music to contemporary creations. Harmonia mundi has collaborated with many of the foremost artists, including William Christie, René Jacobs, Pablo Heras-Casado, Nikolai Lugansky, Paul Lewis, Isabelle Faust and Tabea Zimmermann, while also supporting the next generation through its harmonia#nova collection. Repeatedly named “Label of the Year” and most recently honoured with the 2025 Gramophone “Recording of the Year” for Pygmalion and Raphaël Pichon’s Bach Mass in B minor, harmonia mundi continues to champion a vision of music that is both demanding and open-minded, bridging heritage and innovation.
The collaboration will launch this Easter with two new high-profile releases: Johann Sebastian Bach’s St John Passion with Ensemble Pygmalion conducted by Raphaël Pichon, and Joseph Haydn’s The Seven Last Words of Our Saviour on the Cross in its oratorio version, performed by the RIAS Kammerchor and the Konzerthausorchester Berlin under Justin Doyle.
Initially, the DG Store will offer a selection of key catalogue titles, including landmark reference recordings, current productions, high-quality LP releases, and selected CD box sets. At the same time, STAGE+ will launch a growing streaming offering that is set to gradually encompass the complete audio catalogue of harmonia mundi.
In addition, STAGE+ will expand its audiovisual programme with productions from the label. Highlights include the acclaimed Schumann concerts featuring Isabelle Faust, Alexander Melnikov, Jean-Guihen Queyras, and the Freiburger Barockorchester under Pablo Heras-Casado. The offering is further complemented by exceptional video formats such as Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s dance-theatre performance set to Bach’s cello suites with Jean-Guihen Queyras, as well as Raphaël Pichon’s interpretation of Bach’s St Matthew Passion from Aix-en-Provence.
With the integration of harmonia mundi, Deutsche Grammophon and STAGE+ are setting another milestone for curated excellence and for the fusion of tradition and innovation in the digital classical music market.
