Herbert Blomstedt to record Franz Berwald’s Four Symphonies with Danish National Symphony Orchestra. Friday evening and last night he included Sinfonie capricieuse (No.2) in Copenhagen concerts.

    Many of us devotees have long known about this conductor’s dedication to Franz Berwald, one that I have followed since being infused by Robert Layton. Only recently have I bought his book on Berwald for £100 on eBay.
    But who is the maestro’s successor?
