Not surprisingly it mirrored the May 1 Eisenstadt concert, as below, and presumably followed the usual Thursday/Friday Philharmonie subscription evenings. For whatever reason, if as scheduled, the Haydn Overture wasn’t included (seems mean), the Stravinsky remained fresh and sparkling, Gautier Capuçon once again brought sovereign technique and tone to Rococo Tchaikovsky, an elegant and vivacious account followed by the same Casals encore, and Beethoven’s Second Symphony had a more-uplifting first-movement coda, with this time Kirill Petrenko not adjusting tempo (or making it seem less interventionist) during the work’s ultimate bars.
