Prom Saturday 5 September
Conductor Thomas Dausgaard is no longer able to appear with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra on Saturday 5 September due to travel difficulties. Alpesh Chauhan, the newly appointed Associate Conductor of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, will now appear with the BBC SSO and pianist Stephen Hough at City Halls in Glasgow. The original repertoire is unchanged.
Prom Wednesday 9 September
Conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen is no longer able to appear with the Philharmonia Orchestra on Wednesday 9 September due to the recent extension of COVID-19 quarantine restrictions in Finland. Conductor Paavo Jarvi will now appear with the Philharmonia Orchestra, British pianist Benjamin Grosvenor, and trumpeter Jason Evans at the Royal Albert Hall. The original repertoire is unchanged.
These travel restrictions are proving to be a bit of a scourge for everyone, performers and listeners alike. I send my remorse to the conductors denied their live contact with the Proms audience and presumably world wide.
