Longborough Festival Opera has announced the cast for its new production of Wagner’s Die Walküre, to be performed between 1 – 14 June 2021.

Following Longborough’s acclaimed Das Rheingold, Wagner’s epic tale of Der Ring des Nibelungen continues with Die Walküre, conducted by Longborough’s Music Director Anthony Negus and directed by Amy Lane.

Die Walküre will be taking place in Longborough’s beloved theatre. They want to produce the biggest and best Wagnerian sound possible, which means expanding beyond the orchestra pit. This work will be presented in a new concert production, allowing for additional musicians on stage alongside the wonderful cast.

Revised Season Plans for 2021

Longborough Artistic Director Polly Graham is determined to programme an unforgettable festival, and has made a few changes which will enable the largest audience possible to enjoy Longborough’s 2021 season, while prioritising the artistry of each production. Changes include: the addition of a new venue allowing for a larger audience under social distancing (The Big Top); new dates added for 2021; a concert production of Die Walküre, allowing for a full socially distanced Wagnerian orchestra in the Longborough theatre; and changes to Longborough’s Ring Cycle schedule.
