Happy birthday Tom Ades with whom I have had the pleasure of correspondence exchanges and face to face chats on an occasional basis.
I am delighted to note his recordings of certain Beethoven symphonies which I will
be reviewing shortly.
I also
see he is including Sibelius’s Sixth Symphony for performance to celebrate his 50th.
I have suggested to at least one reputable label
that it captures Tom’s emerging list of fine concert performances of works by Sibelius. Well we will have his view on a work written closely to music for The Tempest, a play Tom himself has set in operatic form.
There is so much to
look forward to coming from the ever inquiring mind of this splendid composer.
