I first met Nicolas in 1975, when I was the newly appointed Organ Scholar at Pembroke College, Cambridge. I was terrified! After 10 minutes I was simply inspired by everything he said. We went to the Pub afterwards, smoking Gauloise cigarettes and drinking cider. That was the start of a beautiful friendship. He taught me SO much. What a man.
Colin, The organist in the photograph is the late Noel Rawsthorne seated at the grand organ of Liverpool Anglican Cathedral, not Nicolas Kynaston.
Thank-you Mr Rook. I hope the changed photo is correct. Colin
The photo I’m looking at is CERTAINLY Nicolas, a fantastic teacher and friend!
