Many Happy Returns to Robert Saxton, 69 today. His Passacaglia on the Name John McCabe, played by organist Jonathan Clinch from an album released today.

Thank you Col, for drawing this to my attention. I don’t think I’ve ever heard it before, though I’m sure John must had had a copy of it here – must look it out. I must also get in touch with Robert, and send him greetings – out of touch for too long.

Correction!! Colin reminds me that I have heard it, back in 2015, in Faversham, played by Edward Kemp-Luck. It was commissioned by George Vass in memory of John. Still, seven years is a long time ago, and my memory is somewhat aged! Anyway, sadly John would not have heard it, unless it percolated through to celestial spheres, which I hope it did. Thank you Robert, and George.
