I first encounted this fine Maestro with his excellent recordings on the Mfp label not least of music by Dvorak.
London has heard little of his live performances over the past 60 years which is our loss.

I saw him a few times at the Halle in the 70s/early 80s: a great Franck symphony included. I had booked to see Tennstedt do Mahler 6 in New York in the 90s but he fell ill and ZM, who was down the road with the New Jersey SO, stood in and I was not disappointed. Those CFP LPs were great bargains.
