Alan Gilbert, who launched his tenure as the new Chief Conductor of Hamburg’s NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra last September, conducts the socially distancing ensemble in a live program of Haydn’s “Oxford” Symphony, Bartók’s Divertimento for Strings and Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme, featuring Alisa Weilerstein as the cello soloist. Captured at the orchestra’s already iconic new home, the concert will air live on NDR Kultur radio and the station’s website.

Alisa Weilerstein launches her new role as Celebrity Ambassador of JDRF, with a special guest appearance in The Power of Us, the organization’s first national telecast. Having been diagnosed with type one diabetes at nine years old, the cellist introduces her own filmed performance of the prelude from Bach’s First Cello Suite, highlighting a star-studded evening hosted by CNN correspondent Cristina Alesci that will stream on both Facebook and YouTube.

Caramoor launches its flexible Summer 20/2.0 lineup with the first of seven performances streamed from the Rosen House Music Room, where Inon Barnatan gives a live solo recital. Schubert’s A-major sonata shares the program with the world premiereof the pianist’s own solo piano transcription of Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances, written during the COVID-19 lockdown. Barnatan will also take part in a live Q&A after the performance, which will stream live on Caramoor’s website.
