Myron Bloom pictured with George Szell

Myron Bloom (1926-2019) was George Szell’s principal horn in the Cleveland Orchestra (1954-77; Szell died in 1970). In this video, published 1 July 2013, Bloom talks to Sarah Willis (Berlin Philharmonic).

In 1961, Bloom made a great (yardstick) recording of Richard Strauss’s First Horn Concerto with Szell & the Clevelanders:
