NAXOS LAUNCHES MUSICBOX, AN INTERACTIVE MUSIC EDUCATION SITE FOR CHILDREN AGED 4-12

Naxos has announced the launch of NaxosMusicBox.com, the latest product in its suite of educational materials for younger, aspiring classical music lovers.

From its inception, the Naxos record label has held education at the core of its mission to bring a love of classical music to the widest possible audience. This has already seen the publication of a range of acclaimed albums, books and apps devoted to the younger generation. Children, parents and teachers can now explore MusicBox together, with its wealth of diverse online activities and resources that lead the field in their variety, scope and stylish presentation.

Differing versions of MusicBox allow discrete access either for teachers (with a range of activities, lesson plans and other PDF resources that assist classroom management), or for children and parents in the home environment (supporting more of a self-study approach).

MusicBox is carefully tailored to suit the needs of children aged 4 to 12 years. With a colourful, clear design and specially written texts, it retains the attention of this younger audience whilst also providing teachers at school and parents at home with plenty of material to try out with their children.

Underpinning MusicBox’s many areas of study are some 4,000 audio tracks, audiobooks, themed playlists and listening quizzes. Content will be regularly updated and augmented, ensuring that it never gathers dust or loses fizz. Teachers, for example, will particularly appreciate the development of static URLs to musical works and individual tracks to place in their school resources.

MusicBox can be accessed on desktop computers, tablets, or other mobile devices, and is compatible with a range of operating systems. Access is available via a flexible range of subscriptions, both for schools and for individuals.

MusicBox can also be enjoyed in a 7-day free trial to experience both the colourful engagement it provides for children, and the plentiful resources that aid adult participation, qualities that have already earned the approval of media publications:  “A very fine resource, which will definitely be engaging for children, its target audience, but for adults as well.” – MusicWeb International

Naxos founding chairman Klaus Heymann commented:

“Contributing to the public’s classical music education has been central to my vision for Naxos since the label’s inception. We have taken different approaches with different age-groups and have never forgotten the importance of nurturing young people, who are the audiences of the future. Being able to provide such services with the aid of the latest technological advances has been a hallmark of our development. MusicBox is a worthy next step in that vision, and a product I can recommend in every respect.
