“The English Symphony Orchestra are launching our new series of online concerts, Music from Wyastone, this Friday, the 18th of September with a performance of Richard Strauss’s Four Last Songs by our Affiliate Artist, April Fredrick. It was a poignant occasion as it marked not only a reunion for many of our players who had not worked together in months, but it was also April’s first public performance since overcoming Covid-19 earlier this spring.
“The link for the concert is: https://www.eso.co.uk/strauss-four-last-songs/. We also plan to live-stream a pre-concert talk at 7:15 on Friday, available via our Facebook feed and YouTube channel.
“The launch of Music from Wyastone coincides with that of ESO Digital, a new online membership platform for ESO supporters. This week’s concert will be available freely to anyone for four days from Friday, but after that, will be available exclusively to our ESO Digital supporters.” – Kenneth Woods, conductor, pictured.
You can always rely on Ken Woods to come up with brilliant, thoughtful, far-sighted ideas. I’m glad that the ESO is finding a way round the lock-down. April Frederick is a fine singer. Should be a good evening.
