Edward Johnson writes…

When it comes to November in music, one inevitably turns to Tchaikovsky! … I’m suggesting two young pianists who in recent performances each approach the piece in their own different ways. By contrast, we then go back nearly 100 years to hear Rachmaninoff play it on an old RCA Victor 78rpm disc.

Morton Gould supplies his own arrangement, conducting his orchestra from the piano, and we then get Alexander Gauk’s orchestration from Neeme Jarvi.
