Festetics Quartet.
From John McCabe’s pioneering Decca set of the Piano Sonatas: No.35 (48) in C, Hob.XVI:35.
One of the very greatest composers, Joseph Haydn, was born on this date in 1732, “The Father of the Symphony” and co-respondent of the String Quartet, the Piano Sonata, and the Piano Trio … more.
What a great composer Haydn was, and with such joyful feeling. I remember so well these Haydn sonata recordings. Impossible to believe it was half a century ago. The Piano Trios are wonderful too. John performed some of them, but was not able to record them.
I look forward to listening to all these items later on.
