Proud and delighted to sign the petition.
I knew Sir Malcolm for the last 15 years of his life. My last meeting was at his home. He was in bed and I had two fascinating discussions between lunch hosted by Antony Day.
What stories emerged! His memory was as sharp as a razor. He had three memories of performing under Furtwangler in 1948, Brahms 2. What were they!!??
I worked for him as his Petformance Manager in the last year of his life seeking, successfully, live concerts of symphonies, concertos and film music. Before that I hosted separate concerts of his chamber music and featured him as the main composer in the St Petersburg British Music Festival in 2007. It included the 5th Symphony.
A great composer with an unusual personality that I thoroughly enjoyed when in his company.
These papers must be saved for the nation please.
