Breaking news: a recording of the performance on January 16, 1910, Carnegie Hall – Rachmaninov playing his Piano Concerto 3, Mahler conducting – has been found in the basement of a New York delicatessen; the Edison cylinder is badly damaged but may prove responsive to repair & remastering.
Ward Marston should do the restoration and I hope it gets issued. I’m no fool.
