24 January – 16 February 2024

With great sadness Danielle de Niese has withdrawn from all performances of La bohème (24, 27 (mat), 31 Jan; 11 (mat), 13 Feb) while she recovers from recent illness. The role of Musetta will be performed by Lauren Fagan

Australian soprano Lauren Fagan most recently performed the role of Gretel in The Royal Opera’s Hansel and Gretel in the 2023/24 Season. She was a member of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme (2014-16) and has performed internationally, with major engagements including Countess Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro) for Canadian Opera Company, Margarita Xirgu (Ainadamar) for Scottish Opera, Helena (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) for Glyndebourne, Giulietta (Les contes d’Hoffmann) for Zurich Opera, and Norma (7 Deaths of Maria Callas) for Paris Opera and Bayerische Staatsoper.

The rest of the cast remains as scheduled.

Andrea Chénier

30 May – 11 June 2024

Sadly, Carlos Álvarez has withdrawn from all performances of Andrea Chénier. The role of Carlo Gérard will be performed by Amartuvshin Enkhbat (30 May and 2, 5 June) and Aleksei Isaev (8, 11 June).

Amartuvshin Enkhbat made his Covent Garden debut in 2021, performing in the title role in Nabucco. He returned this Season to perform the title role in Rigoletto to great critical acclaim. He has performed extensively at the Wiener Staatsoper, Teatro alla Scala, Milan, Bayerische Staatsoper, and The Metropolitan Opera New York. He is also the Principal Soloist of the State Academic Opera House of Mongolia.

Aleksei Isaev made his Covent Garden debut in spring 2023 when he performed the role of Vodník in Rusalka to critical acclaim and returned later in the Season to perform as Count di Luna in The Royal Opera’s Il trovatore. At the beginning of the 2023/24 Season, Isaev sung the role of Don Carlo di Vargas in the 5* production of La Forza del destino, and will return to Covent Garden later in the Season to perform Baron Scarpia in Tosca

The rest of the cast remains as scheduled.
