The Royal Opera House has today released photographs of the company in rehearsals for Wagner’s Das Rheingold. A monumental task for any opera house, this new production has been five years in preparation and four years in the making. The new Ring cycle being forged from 2023-2027 unites Royal Opera Music Director Antonio Pappano and Barrie Kosky, one of the most consistently brilliant and thrilling of all contemporary opera directors.

Together, they have handpicked the finest younger Wagnerian singers – the cast includes Christopher Maltman (Wotan) and Christopher Purves (Alberich), Sean Panikkar (Loge), Marina Prudenskaya (Fricka), Kiandra Howarth (Freia), Wiebke Lehmkuhl (Voice of Erda), Kostas Smoriginas (Donner), Rodrick Dixon (Froh), Brenton Ryan (Mime), In Sung Sim (Fasolt), Soloman Howard (Fafner), Katharina Konradi (Woglinde), Niamh O’Sullivan (Wellgunde) and Marvic Monreal (Flosshilde).
