Sad news – Berit Lindholm has died aged 88.

Swedish soprano Berit Lindholm (born 1934) has been awarded the Gold Medal of Fackförbundet Scen & Film. Sings Cassandra from Berlioz’s Trojans (Colin Davis’s Royal Opera/Philips recording) and Isolde’s Liebestod from Wagner’s Tristan (American Symphony Orchestra/Leopold Stokowski; 1969).

LSO Wagner – Reginald Goodall conducts Prelude & Liebestod (Tristan und Isolde); Leopold Stokowski conducts from Die Meistersinger (Prelude to Act III; Dance of the Apprentices; Procession of the Mastersingers); and it’s Stokowski in selections from Götterdämmerung (Siegfried’s Rhine Journey & Funeral March; Brünnhilde’s Immolation).
