   As you say, very sad news. I knew he had been ill for a long time. One of the original members of the pressure group, Association of Professional Composers, first chairman, the late Nick Maw. I think Tim Souster (decd.) followed for a while, and then John. So many have now gone… The APC accomplished a great deal in its time. Annie Gunning, first wife of Chris Gunning, wrote a splendid book of advice and help along contractual and royalties lines. She worked alongside Patrick Gowers (decd.) (Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace: Smiley) lobbying for changes, at the Houses of Parliament.

   A nearly departed era. Sic transit, etc…
