Chris was a very gifted composer, in many fields. Perhaps best known for his music for Poirot – on TV at any rate – he ended up writing 13 symphonies in his later career. He did much work for the benefit of composers in general, serving on committees for the PRS. He was also a founder member of the Association of Professional Composers, which represented the interests of composers in all genres. In this, he and John worked closely together for a number of years.

I had not seen him for a number of years, but knew that he had been unwell. A genial personality, he will be much missed.
