Ruşen Güneş was one of the few Turkish musicians to make it big in EU Britain, a characterful figure in the London Philharmonic and BBC Symphony Orchestra during the eighties and nineties – the Solti, Tennstedt, Wand, Andrew Davis years. He commanded respect.
So sorry to learn of Rusen’s passing. I knew him quite well when he was at the LPO. where he was the most distinguished of leaders of his viola section and a charming companion.
