Sad news, indeed, although not entirely unexpected in contemplating the life of a man who was born when Nicholas II was Tsar of Russia and World War I was raging across France and Belgium. Francis was indeed a very fine musician, organist and composer – an integral recording of his Organ Sonatas would be a suitable tribute from any of the many organists who came under his tutelage and influence – even in his old age.

A doyen of the early organ recital.
His contribution will never be forgotten.
   A long and fulfilled life.
   RIP.
