Debut Episode To Air Friday, August 1st at 1pm BST here

Max Richter, one of the most influential and popular composers of his generation, presents five one-hour bi-weekly programmes for Apple Music Chill, The Songs of a Jumping Universe.

Richter’s fusion of classical technique and electronic technology, heard across genre-defining solo albums and countless scores for film, dance, art and fashion, has won him legions of fans around the world and blazed a trail for a generation of musicians. His eclectic and wide-ranging love of music across centuries allows him to show connections between seemingly unconnected pieces of music that will inform, challenge and inspire listeners.

 Richter described the program:

“Over the course of my show, The Songs of a Jumping Universe, I explore connections between different musical languages, styles, genres, and cultures. I’m playing music from all over the world, from the Renaissance and mediaeval music, to electronica, to dance music, instrumental music, classical music, looking to make connections between them. Music is a beautiful borderless art form and it can teach us a lot about the world and the possible connections between things that appear different. Making these connections between the seemingly disparate and different is one of the great joys of being around music.”

Max Richter has reworked music from his Apple Classical Chart number one album Sleep to create a new 90 minute suite, Sleep Circle. Each episode of The Songs of a Jumping Universe includes one track from Sleep Circle, the only music by Max used in the show.
