Egdon Heath, Thomas Hardy country
I’m back following two months’ hospitalisation and rehab, meeting kind, skilful and dedicated doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists along the way. Give me a few days (or longer!) to sort myself out and I hope that it’ll be Carry On Column (an alternative to Clio).
Meanwhile here is Gustav Holst’s musical evocation of Egdon Heath, Sir Adrian’s early-1960s’ Decca recording with the LPO, engineered by Kenneth Wilkinson.
Welcome home!!
We have missed you and delighted you are home and back writing ..
It’s wonderful news .
Nice to see you back! X D
The return of sanity – good to have you back, old chum.
Hear Hear!
My first introduction in the 1960s to Egdon Heath on Decca SXL 6006. The horn passages used to vibrate the innards of my record palyer of the time but no longer with my ancient but trusty TDLs and Quad amp/CD player. Glad to be having you back with some sane and balanced reporting instead of NL?
Hurrah! πππ·π₯β₯οΈ

Very happy to have you back, Colin!
Tremendous.
Glad youβre out of there and back there.
We’ve missed you in Buxton. Welcome home.
Glad to know that you are still exhibiting the Hardyness from scrummaging days. Happy Landings! And yes, Egdon Heath is best treated musically, as the waft from its charcoal burners has been clouded by diesel.
Thanks for the latest kind messages. Col
Glad you’re back and well!
Glad to know you are no longer out on the blasted heath…keep well!!!
Welcome back, Colin we have all missed you.
