The British-American composer Thea Musgrave CBE has been made an Honorary Member of the Royal Philharmonic Society (RPS) in recognition of her remarkable career and outstanding services to music. RPS Honorary Membership was presented to Thea on behalf of the RPS by Vanessa Reed, President and CEO of New Music USA, at the New York office of her publisher Novello & Co Ltd, part of Wise Music Group earlier this week. |
An amazing lady, in every way! When I picked up the news I sent congratulations to her, and received a response the next minute. I hope I can be so nimble-fingered and nimble-brained at her age. (Which I won’t mention…)
Ah Monica, Thea Musgrave’s age is well-known, not least on the Column.

Richly deserved.
Thea was an early banner for acceptance of female composers once the previous generation had passed away.
She richly deserves this honour and I send her my wholehearted congratulations. I grew up with her music.
