There appear to be no classical musicians in King Charles III’s first New Year’s Honours List. Brian May, Queen guitarist, is awarded a Knighthood.

Of course, the list would have been chosen before Charles acceded to the throne. However, the fact that apparently NO classical musician has been honoured says a lot, doesn’t it? However, King Charles (cellist of sorts) might possibly influence further lists – not that I suspect he has any real say in the matter.
We can only hope, Monica. While not for a moment begrudging the gifted and articulate Sir Brian his knighthood, the absence of any nod towards achievements in the classical field is dismal, dismal, dismal.
Christine Rice has an MBE.

If I am correct, Linda Merrick (RNCM) also has a CBE.
Correct.
Slim pickings.
