Next NY Phil Music and Artistic Director
On February 20, 2023, Gustavo Dudamel was introduced to the New York Philharmonic musicians, Board, and staff as the Orchestra’s next Music and Artistic Director, to begin in the 2026–27 season. At the press conference — attended by both English- and Spanish-language media outlets — he spoke with NY Phil Linda and Mitch Hart President & CEO Deborah Borda about their journey together, his excitement about leading this iconic institution, and how the NY Phil musicians are now his “family.”
