In response to being named the only composer of The King’s Foundation’s 35 under 35, Jack Pepper has written the music and lyrics for Harmony – a song for youth choir – that reflects HM The King’s philosophy of Harmony.

Harmony will receive its first performance at The King’s Foundation Awards at St James’s Palace on June 12 in the presence of HM The King.

This will be the first time new music has been premiered at the Awards and the first time His Majesty’s environmental philosophy has been interpreted through song. Jack will be singing at the piano, joined by members of the London Youth Choirs and the Duchess of Edinburgh’s String Orchestra and the Royal Corps of Army Music.

Jack Pepper commented:

“Musical language runs through much of His Majesty’s environmental philosophy. Harmony is the title of his 2010 book and the theme underpinning the Foundation’s work; it states that by understanding the balance, order and relationships between us and the natural world, we can create a more sustainable future. These principles of Harmony resonate equally with music as with the environment and sustainability. Music and musicians can be a potent way of helping express this environmental philosophy. My song, an anthem, is a celebration of who we are, what we have and what we can be, as much as a call to action.”

Kristina Murrin CBE, Chief Executive of The King’s Foundation commented:

We are delighted that Jack has paid tribute to the philosophy of Harmony – which The King’s Foundation exists to promote – in his new composition. It is particularly special to have this song created for the charity in our 35th anniversary year, and when Jack forms part of our exciting 35 under 35 youth changemaker network. We hope attendees at the Awards and beyond will enjoy listening to the song.”

The King’s Foundation’s 35 under 35 makers and changemakers is a network of engaged individuals who can work together and exchange knowledge across their diverse disciplines into the future, in line with The King’s philosophy of Harmony.
