Sir Adrian’s third studio recording of this work, of five. (It has never appeared on CD.)

My first recording of Bruckner’s Ninth Symphony – Carl Schuricht & the Vienna Philharmonic (1961), which I had on Classics for Pleasure, CFP 194.

My first recording of Dvořák’s ‘New World’ Symphony – Eugene Ormandy conducting the LSO in 1968 for CBS. I played the LP every day for a fortnight!

    The Elgar was mine to.
    I still have the LP with its lovely cover.
    I will play it again soon.
    It was a surprising coupling of creative artists.
    Boult was very flexible as to his collaborators.
