Important updates and amendments to the published Guide
15 July – 10 September 2022
With the BBC Proms 2022 season commencing on Friday 15 July, there are a number of amendments to the published guide we wanted to make you aware of. These are listed below.

Prom 3 (Saturday 16 July)
This Prom will feature British hip-hop and rap artist Kojey Radical and singer-songwriter Poppy Ajudha, accompanied by the 12 Ensemble.

Prom 4 (Sunday 17 July)
The programme features hits such as ‘I Put a Spell on You’ and ‘Feeling Good’, as well as a selection of Cynthia Erivo’s own works including ‘You’re Not Here’ and ‘Glowing Up’.

Prom 5 (Monday 18 July)
Omer Meir Wellber has withdrawn from this Prom. We are very grateful to Juanjo Mena who has replaced him.
Please note Sir James MacMillan’s Viola Concerto replaces Cassandra Miller’s Viola Concerto, whose premiere will be scheduled for a future date. The remainder of the programme is unchanged.

Prom 6 (Tuesday 19 July)
Omer Meir Wellber has withdrawn from this Prom. We are very grateful Sir Andrew Davis who has replaced him. The repertoire remains unchanged.

Prom 13 (Sunday 24 July)
Markus Brück has withdrawn from this production. The role of Pascoe will be sung by Philip Horst, whilst Karis Tucker will sing the role of Thirza.

Prom 18 (Friday 29 July)
The programme order has now changed. Nicole Lizée’s Blurr is the Colour of My True Love’s Eyes will now be followed by Bruckner’s Adagio from String Quintet in F Major arr. Skrowaczewski, with Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony performed last.

Prom 19 (Saturday 30 July)
The roles of the two lovers in Il tabarro will be performed by Laura Lolita Perešivana (soprano) and Ryan Vaughan Davies (tenor). The chorus in this Prom will now be Philharmonia Voices.

Prom 19A (Sunday 31 July)
This Prom given by the newly formed Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra has been added to the season and will take place at 11am. There will be no interval.

Prom 20 (Sunday 31 July)
Please note that the concert order has been amended and Harrison Birtwistle’s ‘Sonance Severance 2000’ will now open this Prom as a tribute to the composer. The remainder of the repertoire is unchanged.

Prom 26 (Friday 5 August)
This in now the world premiere of Julian Anderson’s complete symphony.

Prom 43 (Friday 19 August)
The roles of Solomon’s Queen and First Harlot will now be sung by Anna Dennis. The roles of the Queen of Sheba and Second Harlot will be sung by Wallis Giunta.

Prom 52 (Friday 26 August)
The programme order has been revised. Debussy’s La Mer will be followed by Vaughan Williams’s Lark Ascending. After the interval, the UK premiere of Thomas Ades’s Märchentänze will now be followed by Sibelius’s Symphony No.5.

Prom 56 (Sunday 28 August)
Saxophonist Soweto Kinch has been confirmed as an additional artist for the South African Jazz Songbook.

Philip Glass’s new commission will be entitled ‘No More, You Petty Spirits’.
