It is so encouraging to listen to this fine German orchestra and sympathetic conductor play The Sea. It is probably Bridge’s best piece harmonically to attract such international attention and I would put it alongside Paris, The Song of a Great City by Delius as being among the best early 20th century English works deserving and gradually getting European exposure. Perhaps The Planets needs a revival.
This performance was a revelation as to the opportunity for The Sea elsewhere in Europe.
Thanks Col for its super exposure.
